Ricki and The Flash is a film about a woman who gave up everything to follow her dreams returning back to her family in times of crisis. Things have changed since she left, the husband remarried, the kids grew up, they got a dog – and Ricki is left trying to fix bridges she burnt a long time ago.
When I saw the trailer for this film, I was so eager to watch it – mainly because the lead role is played by Meryl Streep. It looked amazing, and yet somehow I managed to miss it in the cinema. I’d pretty much forgotten about it until it popped up on Sky Movies.
It’s an interesting take on the parent leaving the family, and I loved seeing Streep all dressed up. There were some funny scenes, but overall it felt a little predictable.
It’s not groundbreaking, but it is enjoyable .
