Movie Monday: Home Alone

Over the next few weeks as we get closer to Christmas, Movie Monday will be a collection of reviews of the films I consider to be essential holiday viewing. Since there are more movies than there are Mondays, there will be Mythical Movie Mondays on other days during the week.

Now that’s out the way, let’s get started.

The first film on this list is Home Alone. When 8 year old Kevin McCallister is left behind from a family vacation, he must defend his home from a pair of dimwitted but determined burglars.

Admittedly from that description, it doesn’t sound like a funny film, but with scene upon scene of slapstick gold, its a classic Christmas comedy. The best part is definitely the plan he comes up with to keep his house safe – although that’s all I’m going to say because spoilers!

I can’t recommend this film highly enough.
